twenty years old

In this picture you can see the gift Sam got from his mission- chocolate frosted flakes! In order to celebrate they made pastels (fried brasillian sandwhiche type snacks) and milk shakes!

Attention all friends of Sam!

Sam has made a birthday request to have all of his friends and family grow mustaches! His birthday is September 27, and he would like you to take pictures and send them to him.

This last week was pretty crazy, and included a zone conference and a "festa julina" which is a late version of what is commonly called "festa junina." anyways, it´s basically just a crazy little party where people dress up like brasilian rednecks and act crazy.

(I asked sam to send pictures and this is what I got. Hopefully now I can convince him to send some photos with him in them!)

In a recent e-mail Sam said that he had heard that Avatar was really good and hoped that someone was making a list of movies for him to see when he gets home. WOO-HOO!!

My mom recieved a phone call from Sam on friday and he got his visa! I think that he was starting to get nervous because a lot of the missionaries were getting re-assigned to different areas when they reached twelve weeks at the MTC. Sam's twelve week mark was this wednesday! He will be leaving to Sao Paulo on Monday, just in time for Carnival!

Last we heard Sam is still at the MTC in Provo. He said that one missionary got his visa and was on a plane to brazil the next morning. So, we are hoping that he will be able to call from the airport, or at least the missionary president or someone will let us know when he leaves the country!

For New Year's the Elders in his district counted down to the New Year at 7:00 PM because Sao Paulo is 5 hours ahead, and then they drank some martinelli's.

The language is coming well, and he says thanks for everyone who has sent him letters and packages, and to keep them coming!
